Traffic at Colorado Springs Airport continues to rise
In the month of March, the Colorado Springs Airport (COS) saw a total of 163,695 passengers travel through the terminal, with 82,742 of those passengers enplaning at COS.
North Slope Recreation Area now open
The North Slope Recreation Area along the Pikes Peak Highway is now open. This includes the North and South Catamount reservoirs along with Crystal Creek Reservoir, which had previously been closed for more than three seasons due to a Colorado Springs Utilities maintenance and repair project.
REMINDER: Motorless Morning eliminates traffic Saturday in Garden of the Gods Park
On Saturday, April 29, the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is hosting a Motorless Morning in Garden of the Gods Park. The special event will eliminate motor vehicle access within the park from 5 a.m. - noon. As always, the park is free and open to the public.
City to provide update, seek community input on Greater Westside Community Plan
The City of Colorado Springs invites the public to attend the second Greater Westside Community Plan (GWCP) community meeting on Wednesday, April 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Westside Community Center. This public meeting provides an opportunity for City Staff to collaborate with community members in anticipation of a draft Community Plan, to be presented at a later date for review.
Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax (LART) Citizens’ Advisory Committee Accepting Funding Applications for 2024 through May 24th
The City of Colorado Springs Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax (LART) Citizens’ Advisory Committee has announced it will begin accepting funding applications for events and projects in 2024. The application can be found at ColoradoSprings.gov/LART and are due by Wednesday, May 24th at 5 p.m.
School zone installed on Barnes Road at Doherty High School
The City of Colorado Springs will activate a new school zone at Doherty High School on Monday, April 24. A new school zone on Barnes Road, between Austin Bluffs Road and Oro Blanco Road, includes flashing 20 mph speed limit signs, along with road markings. The school zone will be active each morning on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 7 a.m. to 7:50 a.m., and on Wednesday from 7:55 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. The flashing signs will also be activated each weekday from 3:00 p.m. to 3:50 p.m.
