COS is offering several new nonstop markets this summer. On June 5, Delta Air Lines will add nonstop Atlanta (ATL) daily service, along with daily nonstop service to Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) launching on June 6. Another new carrier to COS, Sun Country Airlines, will begin nonstop seasonal service to Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) on June 8. Southwest Airlines announced it will serve Long Beach (LGB) nonstop daily beginning July 11. COS welcomed Avelo Airlines in May and the carrier is offering nonstop service to Los Angeles – Hollywood/Burbank (BUR).
Visit Colorado Springs presented Janet Suthers, First Lady of Colorado Springs, with the inaugural Olympic City USA Community Service Award. Suthers has been a champion of the Olympic & Paralympic movement and its values, leading a task force that was integral to the creation and promotion of the Olympic City USA brand in 2015. As a founding member of the Olympic City USA Task Force, her efforts have galvanized residents toward a common identity, bolstered civic pride and grown the city’s sports economy.
Andrew Notbohm has been named Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management director. Notbohm has been serving as acting director of the PPROEM since April 1. Prior to that, he served as PPROEM’s deputy director since April 2022. In 2019, the City and County announced an Intergovernmental Agreement to operate one joint Office of Emergency Management, called the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department is being recognized with a 2023 Excellence in Fire Service-Based EMS Award for their innovations in the delivery of emergency medical services. CSFD was selected for this award for its Tiered Response Program that dispatches appropriate resources and personnel based on a patient's actual needs. Over 50 departments across the nation have met with CSFD personnel to learn about their program.
The public is invited to review and comment on the City's Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER) on outcomes of funding from the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the 2022 program year. The draft 2022 CAPER will be available for public review until June 7 on the Community Development’s website: coloradosprings.gov/community-development.
