Update 2/8/2022
On Friday, January 28, 2022, detectives were able to identify the suspect in this investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for murder in the first degree for 21-year-old Demar Ravenell. After the arrest warrant was signed, the Colorado Springs Police Department Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force (VOFTF) began to actively attempt to locate and arrest Mr. Ravenell regarding this investigation. It was subsequently learned Mr. Ravenell also had an arrest warrant for murder out of the state of South Carolina.
On Monday, February 7, 2022, members of the VOFTF, United States Marshal’s Service (USMS), United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Berkeley County (SC) Sheriff’s Office, and the Pueblo Police Department arrested Mr. Ravenell at a residence in Pueblo, CO.
This is still an active and ongoing investigation. Update 1/25/2022
On Monday, January 24, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed an autopsy of the deceased adult male. The male has been identified as 42-year-old Brian MacDonald of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, this incident is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are continuing the investigation into this death. Further details will be released in the future as appropriate.
Mr. MacDonald’s death is the fifth homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022. The CSPD investigated zero homicides at this time last year.

On January 21, 2022, at approximately 6:43 A.M., the Colorado Springs Police Department’s (CSPD) Communication Center received a request for assistance at an address in the 200 block of Nichols Boulevard.
CSPD Officers responded to the area and located a deceased adult male suffering from obvious trauma. Detectives from the CSPD’s Violent Crime Section responded to assume responsibility for the investigation. Based upon the initial information, this incident is being investigated as a possible homicide, though the final determination of the cause and manner of death will be made by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
Detectives are actively working to develop information about the incident and identify those involved. No arrests have been made and additional information will be released as appropriate.
