October 11, 2022 update:
On Friday, October 7, 2022, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Murder in the first degree for a juvenile male regarding the September 18, 2022, homicide of Trevor Branson.
On Monday, October 10, 2022, a deputy with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office took the juvenile male into custody on his warrant. As the suspect is a juvenile, no additional information will be released at this time.

Sept. 22, 2022 update:
On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased victim, who has been identified as 19-year-old Trevor Branson, a resident of Colorado Springs, CO. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, Mr. Branson’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
Mr. Branson’s death is the 34th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022. The CSPD investigated 25 homicides this time last year.

On September 18, 2022, at 3:18 p.m. the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Communications Center received a call regarding a shooting at a residence in the 6000 block of Gunshot Pass Dr. Upon arrival officers located a deceased adult male on scene. Due to the circumstances of the investigation detectives from the Violent Crimes Homicide/Assault Unit responded and assumed the investigation.
