On January 20, 2023, Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department Stetson Hills Division responded to reports of a multi-vehicle traffic crash at Austin Bluffs and Rangewood. During that investigation, one of the drivers later succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. On February 1, 2023, the investigation was concluded. As a part of this investigation, 61-year-old Colorado Springs Resident Steven Rowland, was charged with Careless Driving, resulting in death, is a misdemeanor.

On the above date and time, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Rangewood Drive, on a report of a multiple vehicle Crash. Once on scene, officers established that the crash involved 5 vehicles. A pickup truck was north on Austin Bluffs Parkway and struck multiple vehicles who were stopped in traffic at the light, north bound at Rangewood Drive. Three drivers were transported to local hospitals. The crash is currently still under investigation.
