On Monday July 18, 2022, at 12:19 AM members of the Colorado Springs Police Department Gold Hill Division were dispatched to a traffic crash involving a car and a motorcycle at the intersection of S Tejon St. and the I-25 northbound on ramp. Upon arrival officers learned that a vehicle was making a left hand turn to enter the northbound on ramp to I-25 when a southbound motorcycle collided with the car.
Witnesses who were in the area and observed the scene rendered aid to the motorcycle rider until the Colorado Springs Fire Department and members of American Medical Response arrived on scene. Despite the best efforts of both citizens, officers, and medical personnel the motorcycle rider was determined to be deceased on scene.
Due to the nature of the crash the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to assume the investigation.
On Tuesday July 19, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed an autopsy on the motorcycle rider. The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as 30-year-old Brannon Forrest.
This is the 27th fatal traffic crash in Colorado Springs this year. 14 of these crashes have been motorcycle fatalities. At this time last year there were 25 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs.
