On Sunday, May 22, 2022, at approximately 9:38 AM, Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) officers were dispatched to a robbery with a weapon call for service near the 2300 block of North Wahsatch Avenue. Officers determined an adult male victim was using an ATM when he was robbed by two males with firearms.
On the same day, at approximately 1:57 PM, officers from the CSPD Stetson Hills Division were dispatched to a shooting call for service near the 9000 block of Prominent Point. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim in his vehicle in close proximity to an ATM.
Officers determined the victim was taking money out of an ATM when a suspect approached and robbed him at gunpoint. During the robbery, the suspect shot the victim and then fled the area. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and in stable condition.
The CSPD Robbery Unit assumed the investigation and learned of an additional personal robbery that occurred in Monument Colorado, also on May 22, 2022, at approximately 1:00 PM. The suspect descriptions and evidence collected on the scene indicated the same suspects committed all three robberies.
On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, CSPD Robbery Unit detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the shooting/robbery suspect, 20-year-old Kansas resident, Jalen Paxson. Paxson has been charged with one count of Attempted Murder in the 1st Degree, three counts of Aggravated Robbery, and one count of Assault in the 1st Degree. Paxson is currently in custody in the Finney County Jail, Garden City, KS.
