On Monday, March 8, 2021, at approximately 6:05 PM, two suspects dressed in all black clothing wearing black face masks entered the Family Dollar store, located at 2325 East Platte Avenue, and committed a robbery. One suspect approached the clerk and demanded money from the register, while the other suspect attempted to take a customer's purse. A struggle ensued and the clerk produced a handgun. One of the suspects was shot and was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery for non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department Robbery Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
The suspect that sustained the gunshot wound is in stable condition at a local hospital and has been identified as a 15-year-old juvenile male. He has been charged with Robbery.
Detectives have identified the other suspect that fled the scene as 26-year-old Marshunn Anderson of Colorado Springs. Mr. Anderson has a warrant for his arrest and is being charged with Aggravated Robbery.
