Update 2/16/2022
On February 9, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed an autopsy of an adult deceased female. The decedent has been identified as 41-year-old Daisha Fry of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, this incident is being investigated as a homicide.
On February 11, 2022, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Murder in the First Degree for 32-year-old Douglas Hawkins. On February 15, 2022, Mr. Hawkins turned himself into the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Ms. Fry’s death is the ninth homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022. The CSPD investigated two homicides at this time last year.

On February 8, 2022, at approximately 2:06 A.M., the Colorado Springs Police Department’s (CSPD) communication center received a report of a disturbance occurring inside a residence in the 6600 Block of Bugle Dr. CSPD Officers responded and located an adult female suffering from obvious trauma. Officers and members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department attempted life-saving measures; however, the measures proved to be unsuccessful.
Detectives from the CSPD’s Violent Crime Section Homicide/Assault Unit responded to assume responsibility for the investigation. Based on the initial information, this incident is being investigated as a possible homicide. The final determination of the cause and manner of death will be made by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
The name of the deceased individual will not be released until they have been positively identified by the coroner and next of kin notifications have been made. No arrests have been made at this time and it is an active and open investigation. Further updates will be released in the future as appropriate.
