On November 6, 2021, at 5:20 P.M., officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) were on a call for service in the 3600 block of East Galley Road when they heard multiple shots fired from nearby. Officers quickly checked the area and came upon a vehicle which had crashed into a utility pole at Galley Road and Auburn Drive. Officers located an adult female and an adult male inside the car, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The adult female later succumbed to her injuries and the adult male was treated and released.
Detectives from the CSPD Violent Crimes Homicide/Assault Unit responded and assumed responsibility of the investigation into the shooting. While the El Paso County Coroner’s Office will make the cause and manner of death determination, this case is being investigated as a homicide.
Initial information suggests a suspect on a yellow, white, and black dirt bike-style motorcycle fired shots into the victim’s vehicle. During the investigation, detectives obtained surveillance video which showed the suspect on the motorcycle just prior to the shooting. Detectives have been unable to identify additional information about the motorcycle or the driver who was seen wearing all black clothing and a black helmet. CSPD is asking for assistance from the public in identifying the motorcycle and its driver. Anyone with information or who is a witness to this investigation is asked to call the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719) 444-7000; or if you wish to remain anonymous, you may call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (719) 634-STOP (7867) or 1-800-222-8477.
