On November 20, 2021, at approximately 7:14 pm, the Colorado Springs Police Department’s (CSPD) Communication Center received a reported shooting near the skate park that is located within Memorial Park, at 1705 E. Pikes Peak Avenue. When officers and medical personnel arrived, they located two injured individuals suffering from gunshot wounds and one deceased juvenile male. The two injured parties, one adult male and one juvenile male, were transported to a local hospital where the adult victim died as a result of their injuries. The juvenile victim is still in the hospital receiving treatment for his injuries.
Detectives with CSPD’s Homicide / Assault Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. No arrests have been made at this time and this continues to be an active and open investigation. Further details will be released as appropriate.
On November 22, 2021, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsies of the two deceased victims. The victims have been identified as 23-year-old Gage Celano and 14-year-old Dominic Celano. The victims are related to one another and are residents of Colorado Springs. These deaths are the 37th and 38th homicide investigations in the City of Colorado Springs in 2021. The CSPD investigated 36 homicides at this time last year.
