Update
On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of the deceased female involved in the traffic crash near Palmer Park Blvd and Powers Blvd. The deceased female has been identified as 35-year-old Sydney Johnson of Colorado Springs. It is yet to be determined if speed or alcohol played a role in this crash. At this time, no arrests have been made but the investigation is ongoing. This is the 53rd fatal traffic crash of 2022. At this same time last year, there were 46 fatal traffic crashes in Colorado Springs.

On November 23, 2022, at 6:03 p.m., members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Stetson Hills Division, were dispatched to the area of N. Powers Boulevard and Palmer Park Boulevard regarding a multi vehicle traffic crash in the southbound lanes on Powers Boulevard. Upon arrival officers located at least four vehicles with damage consistent with having been involved in a traffic crash. One of the vehicles had the engine of the vehicle removed during the crash which landed in the north bound lanes of traffic. Another vehicle sustained heavy damage. At least three of the people in involved vehicles were transported to area hospitals with serious or life-threatening injuries. Another driver was transported by private vehicle for minor injuries. Both directions of Powers Boulevard were closed for an extended time due to the investigation and clean up.
