UPDATE
On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, the suspect wanted in connection with the attempted murder of a CSPD police officer, Jacob Aaron Sedillo, was located at a residence in the 600 block of Superior Street, Colorado Springs. Representatives from the Colorado Springs Police Department’s (CSPD) Tactical Enforcement Unit, Canine Unit, and Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from the CSPD’s Unmanned Aerial System Unit, the Regional Explosives Unit, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the U.S. Secret Service subsequently contacted Mr. Sedillo, where he was taken into custody without incident or injury to anyone involved.
Mr. Sedillo has been booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on charges stemming from this investigation.

PREVIOUS UPDATE
Homicide / Assault Unit Detectives have continued their investigation into the Attempted Murder of a CSPD police officer and have identified the suspect as 25 year-old Jacob Aaron Sedillo of Colorado Springs. Detectives applied for and obtained an Arrest Warrant charging Mr. Sedillo with Attempted First Degree Murder. Mr. Sedillo is not in custody and is considered armed and dangerous. Detectives from the Homicide / Assault Unit and the Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force are actively trying to locate Mr. Sedillo.
Mr. Sedillo is described as a White male, Hispanic origin, 5’11”, approximately 165 pounds, brown hair, with green eyes. A photo of Mr. Sedillo accompanies this release.

ORIGINAL RELEASE
On Friday, June 4, 2021, at approximately 8 P.M., an officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department contacted two suspicious motorcycles in the parking lot of 3010 North Nevada Avenue. During the contact, one of the motorcycle riders fired a weapon at the officer, striking him at least one time. The suspect then fled the scene, while the other motorcycle rider remained. The officer was not able to return fire and was transported to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Detectives from CSPD’s Homicide/Assault Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. This is being investigated as an attempted homicide of a police officer. As the officer did not discharge his weapon, this will not be investigated by a deadly force investigation team (DFIT) but will be handled by CSPD
