The Fillmore Street bridge maintenance project, east of Interstate 25 between Tremont Street and Sinton Road, is scheduled for completion and opening of all lanes in both directions the morning of Friday, Dec. 20.
The completed maintenance work included repairs to the bridge deck on both structures, waterproofing, and an asphalt overlay. The work took eight months to complete.
The City is undertaking a longer-term project to eventually replace these bridges. The bridges remain safe for travel and are regularly inspected, but they’re nearing the end of their service life. The project is identified as a Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) A-list project. It will receive PPRTA funding, as well as a Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Bridge Investment Program (BIP) Planning Grant.
