On Saturday, April 29, 2023, at approximately 7:13 PM, CSPD Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of South Nevada Avenue to investigate a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male had sustained life-threatening injuries from being shot. The male died on the scene and the CSPD Homicide Unit responded to continue the investigation.
On Monday, May 1, 2023, The El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased male, who has been identified as 21-year-old Jesse Schiele III, a resident of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death, Mr. Schiele’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
This is the 6th homicide in the city of Colorado Springs in 2023. At this time last year, there were 19 homicides investigated. A photo of the victim has been provided by the family.
