On June 25, 2023, at approximately 10:34 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department received information on a missing adult female from the assisted living facility, in the 7500 block of Assisi Heights. Facility staff reported, Berlinda Maldonado, 83 years old, had been checked out of the facility by her ex-husband, James Maldonado. Ms. Maldonado suffers from dementia and is not supposed to leave the facility with anyone but her immediate family. The investigation revealed they may be possibly heading to the Denver Zoo. Ms. Maldonado was checked out of the facility at 10:45 AM, and they were seen leaving the facility in a white 2013 Honda Civic, bearing Colorado license plate DTQ970.
Officers have made numerous attempts to locate Ms. Maldonado and James Maldonado at his residence in the 1200 block of East Columbia Street, however, there has been no sign of anyone at the residence.
