Update:
On Sunday, June 11, 2023, 19-year-old Elijah Adolpho, of Colorado Springs, was charged with Murder in the First Degree for the death of a female victim. The suspect’s mugshot will be released on the Colorado Springs Police Department’s official Twitter account, @CSPDPIO.
On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of the deceased female, identified as 35-year-old Jeanette Wince, of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, it is being investigated as a homicide.
This is the 12th homicide in the City of Colorado Springs in 2023. At this time last year, there were 25 homicides investigated. A photo of the victim was provided by the family.

On Saturday, June 10, 2023, at approximately 10:57 p.m., Officers from the Sand Creek Division, who were on an unrelated traffic stop, were contacted by a citizen in reference to a traffic crash in the 800 Block of North Academy Boulevard. Officers were informed that it appeared someone involved in the traffic crash sustained serious injuries.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a female occupant of the vehicle who was unconscious. Information obtained on scene was that a minor traffic crash occurred between the victim's vehicle and the suspect's vehicle. A short time later, the driver of the suspect vehicle fired multiple gunshots into the victim’s vehicle striking one person in the victim’s vehicle.
The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department's Violent Crimes Section were notified and responded to the scene. No arrests have been made as of the time of this entry. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
