On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Stetson Hills Division, were dispatched to the 4500 block of Barnes Rd. to investigate a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian; the pedestrian was deceased on the scene. On Tuesday, March 29, 2023, the driver of the vehicle was charged with Careless Driving Resulting in Death. The driver is a juvenile and will not be identified.

On 03/22/2023 at 7:21 AM, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Stetson Hills Division, were dispatched to the 4500 block of Barnes Rd regarding a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon arrival on the scene, it was discovered that the pedestrian was crossing Barnes Rd when the pedestrian was struck by an eastbound vehicle. The pedestrian was deceased on the scene, and the vehicle’s driver remained on the scene. Due to the nature of the crash, the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to the scene. The initial investigation determined that the pedestrian was crossing in the crosswalk when the pedestrian was struck. The eastbound light was red when the vehicle entered the intersection. It is too early in the investigation to determine if speed or other factors were involved in this crash. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this investigation.
