On Monday, February 27, 2023, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Stetson Hills Division, were dispatched to the 4900 block of Carefree Circle N regarding a single-vehicle traffic crash involving a fatality. On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of the deceased driver. The driver has been identified as Robert Adams, 38-years-old, and a Colorado Springs Resident. This is the eleventh traffic fatality in Colorado Springs of 2023. At this same time last year, Colorado Springs had three traffic fatalities. In the past 365 days, there have been 64 traffic deaths in Colorado Springs. Speed is considered a factor in this traffic crash and at this point, alcohol does not appear to be a factor. This was a single-vehicle, single-fatality traffic crash.

On 02/27/2023 at 9:08 PM, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department, Stetson Hills Division, were dispatched the 4900 block of Carefree Cir N in regard to a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival officers found a single vehicle was headed west on Carefree Cir N when the driver lost control and the vehicle left the south side of the roadway. After leaving the roadway the vehicle struck a tree. When medical personnel arrived on scene the driver of the vehicle was deceased on scene. Due to the nature of the crash the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to assume the investigation. The investigation is in the early stages, and it is too early to determine if speed or alcohol are factors in this crash. This is the eleventh fatal crash in Colorado this year. At this time last year there were three traffic fatalities.
