Welcome to Emergency Services
The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) is an internationally accredited fire department that provides outstanding fire and other emergency services to our community. The women and men of the CSFD provide a variety of emergency and non-emergency services to the citizens and visitors of Colorado Springs. There are 22 fire stations staffed with emergency response resources that are deployed throughout the city in order to reach an incident within 8 minutes from the time of the call, 90% of the time. An “all-hazards” fire, rescue, and medical department, the CSFD provides the following services to our community:
- Structural firefighting
- Forest and Brush (“wildland”) firefighting
- Vehicle, trash, and other fire response
- Advanced Life Support
- Basic Life Support
- Medical referrals/patient navigation
- Community response team (mobile integrated mental health assessment)
- Hazardous Materials Response Team
- Technical Rescue Response Team
- High Angle Rescue Team
- Tactical Emergency Medical Response Team
- Special Event Bicycle Team
- Customer Service cache
These services are delivered to our community twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to the services provided to our community, CSFD firefighters also provide various internal support activities that assist in the delivery of the above-named services. These internal support activities maximize taxpayer dollars by limiting the need to “outsource” these activities to vendors. Examples of internal support activities include:
- Mapping and Geographic Information Systems program
- Thermal Imaging Camera maintenance and repair program
- Hose program
- Target Hazard identification program
- Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) breathing air program
- In-vehicle communications headset repair
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) maintenance and repair program
- Staffing program
- Mobile Command Post response
- On-scene rehabilitation bus program
- Peer Support program
